We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and skilled instructor to join our team for an innovative educational initiative. The successful candidate will work with students in grades 5-10, introducing them to the exciting world of Robotics and Programming. Through engaging, hands-on lessons, the instructor will foster problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and essential STEM skills.
This is a contractual role where the instructor will take weekly classes at local schools, guiding students through practical projects in both Robotics and Programming in an inclusive and engaging environment.
Job responsibilities:
Robotics Instruction
- Deliver interactive robotics lessons to students in grades 5-10.
- Teach students how to design, build, and program robots using platforms like LEGO Mindstorms, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi.
- Guide students in tackling hands-on robotics projects to enhance their problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Programming Instruction
- Teach introductory programming concepts using languages like Python or block-based tools such as Scratch.
- Guide students in developing programming skills through fun, practical projects.
- Foster logical thinking and computational problem-solving.
- Help students understand the practical applications of coding in real-world scenarios.
General Responsibilities
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment for students of varying skill levels.
- Support the development of structured lesson plans and course materials that align with the program’s objectives.
- Regularly assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to improve learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with school staff and program coordinators to ensure smooth course delivery and address any concerns.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a 3rd-year or 4th-year undergraduate program in Robotics, Computer Science, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong passion for Robotics, Programming, and STEM education.
- Prior experience in robot design, programming, and troubleshooting (e.g., through robotics clubs, competitions, or academic projects).
- Knowledge of popular programming languages, particularly Python, and familiarity with block-based programming like Scratch.
- Basic understanding of robotics platforms such as LEGO Mindstorms, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to simplify technical concepts for young learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience is an added advantage.
- Availability to travel to schools for weekly classes.
Preferred Skills:
- Active involvement in a robotics or programming club/team.
- Experience with project-based learning and hands-on teaching methods.
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, etc.) used in robotics.
